LIA is a not-for-profit art institution. The artist in residency programme is designed to foster international artists by providing studio space and exhibition opportunities at the Spinnerei Leipzig, which has one of the largest artist populations in Germany.

International exhibitions, open studios and panel discussions regularly take place. LIA hosts artists from the following countries: Australia, Japan, Ireland, China, Switzerland, Sweden, the USA, Ukraine and Puerto Rico.

LIA is the official artist in residency programme for the city of Leipzig our patron being Burkhard Jung, mayor of Leipzig. The programme’s principal sponsor is BMW Plant Leipzig and HeiterBlick – For quality of ride.
