11.11.-20.12.2007 Tuesday-Saturday 11-6 pm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This exhibition introduces a sampling of Japanese art from the 2000s by younger artists who are recently receiving attention for their work. With a focus on elaborate attempts to create art, the exhibition features 42 works (paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs and video) by eleven artsits including Atsushi Fukui, Satoshi Hirose and Maywa Denki. The opening of the show will be the start of LIA, a not for profit art isntitution and artist in residency programme. Guests from the Japanese Embassy as well as Michael Haerdter, founder of the artist in residency programme Bethanien in Berlin, will be present, giving an introduction. On following Thursdays there will be various cultural events such as a concert of contemporary, Japanese music in the piano house Fiech and a talk about the Japanese composer and pianist Rentaro Taki who was the first Japanese to study music in Europe.
