LIA cordially invites you to the first exhibition of the international artist-collective 'plats'. 'Plats' is a Swedish word meaning place or space. Only today seven artists from the UK, USA and Sweden will show their work at the LIA. The exhibition includes illustration, photography, video and installations.

Nadja Bournonville graduated from the Glasgow School of Art 2006 with a First Class BA Hons in Fine Art Photography. Since then she has been working in Leipzig and Sweden. She is currently an artist in residency at LIA, Leipzig International Art Program and also represented by the Pierogi Gallery.

Laurie Innes studied the rather odd mix of Film and Surface Design at the London College of Printing. Some of Laurie's work looks a lot like animation but normally is some form of collated trickery, such as the shadow-puppet music video he produced for Goodshoes "We are not the same". He has so far produced two music videos that have been screened on MTV and Channel Four. Current projects include ongoing live performances with the band “Reflections of a Bull”.

Timothy Innes graduated from the Fine art Photography at the Glasgow School of Art In 2006. He currently lives and works in Copenhagen.

Graham Kelly graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2007. He lives and works in Glasgow. His work involves the study and application of self-referential processes. These created visual feedback loops form abstract reflections of their surroundings that remain in a constant state of flux. Unforeseen traces of the humanity of the maker and viewer are formed from within the encompassing process. The coalescence of process and product questions their relationship with space, creator and audience.

Sophia Augusta Pankenier studied Visual Communications at Lehigh University and the Glasgow School of Art until 2005. Sophia is currently based in London and also working on a few long term projects with an independent publisher in New York. She co-founded plats in 2005.

Emily Robertson studied Visual Communications and specialized in Illustration. She graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2006 with a First Class BA Hons. Emily also won Best New Blood at the D+AD awards in 2006. Co-founder of plats with Sophia Augusta and Laurie Innes. She lives and works in London as an Illustrator.

Katherine Rose graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2007. She has been commissioned to illustrate various magazines, books and events, and now works as a staff photographer for the Observer newspaper in London.
