APPLICATION LIA supports international artists and promotes global cultural transfer. The not-profit institution offers four furnished studios, 83 square meters each, which serve as a working and living space, as well as the participation in the program (int. talks, open studios, group show at the Spinnerei Gallery Tour). Studios are available for three or a six months periods (preferred duration, individual arrangements are possible). There is a monthly fee charged of one thousand and fifty Euro including 19 % VAT. Dutch and Swiss artists may apply directly for funding at the Fonds BKVB or the Christoph Merian Foundation. Selected artists by LIA will receive all documentation necessary to apply for funding. LIA does neither cover living/ material nor traveling expenses. Rolling admission. Only applications with completed applications will be considered. The jury meets once a month. Admission is rolling. NOTICE The applicant will be notified within four weeks of his sent application. Being accepted the applicant receives permission to enroll in LIA. The first third of the total amount of fees have to be paid during the following four weeks. LIA will assist the applicant with recommendation letters and visa aid to receive financial support. SCHOLARSHIPS FOR DUTCH AND SWISS ARTISTS
Can be obtained for LIA at the Christoph Merian Foundation, Basel and Fonds BKVB, Amsterdam. GENERAL INFORMATION LIA is an artists-in-residence program, aiming to build cultural bridges and to foster an art critical approach. LIA is an interdisciplinary program connecting artistic discourses with political, economical and scientific themes. LIA believes in the encounter of foreign cultures as being a great benefit to once own artistic biography. English should be spoken reasonably well. Artists participating in LIA are on their own risk. Artists have to proof health insurance. ARRIVAL
By arrival the artist will receive sheets and towels. He can rent a bike for 10 € per month. Wireless Lan is available for 6 € per month. The artist has to put in a deposit of 100 € which will be returned by departure if the keys are returned and the studio has been left as it was found. SALES POLICY Its fully the decision of the artist to sell or not to sell. If the artist decides to sell in LIA will charge 40 % commission and take care of the sale. The payment will be fully used for not-profit purposes. As LIA is a cultural program the artist is not obliged to sell his works at any time. INFORMATION ABOUT THE CITY Leipzig, with a population of over 504,000, is the largest city in the federal state of Saxony, Germany. It is well-known for its old university and its trade fairs. Many traditional publishing houses are in Leipzig. The city is one of he historic centers of book printing. Besides Dresden it is the most populated city of Saxony and one of the economically strongest regions of the new federal counties.
